    Founding director of LIFES 

    LinkedIn Profile Prof. Barend Mons is a molecular biologist and internationally recognized expert in FAIR data and open science. A pioneer in research data stewardship, he led the 2014 conference that launched the FAIR Data Principles and founded the GO FAIR initiative. He has served as Chair of the High-Level Expert Group on the European Open Science Cloud, President of CODATA, and continues to advise on global data policy. A frequent keynote speaker, Prof. Mons brings decades of experience in advancing transparency, reproducibility, and responsible data sharing in research.
