Journal: Biomedicine Hub
Submission Deadline: August 31, 2026
Biomedicine Hub is dedicating an article collection to exploring the critical role of sex and gender in pharmacological research. Despite growing awareness, many studies still overlook these variables, leading to gaps in efficacy, safety, and equity in drug development and clinical practice. The collection aims to advance inclusive, evidence-based pharmacology by showcasing research that rigorously investigates sex- and gender-related differences in drug response, trial design, and therapeutic outcomes.
We welcome Research Articles, Case Reports, Review Articles and Brief Reports on topics including but not limited to:
- Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics: Sex-based differences in drug metabolism, absorption, and elimination, as well as gender-specific dosing strategies and adverse event profiles.
- Clinical Trial Design and Reporting: Inclusion of women and gender-diverse populations, as well as the application of SAGER (Sex and Gender Equity in Research) guidelines.
- Preclinical Research Bias: Representation of female models in animal studies, as well as translational relevance of sex-balanced preclinical data.
- Pharmacovigilance and Safety Monitoring: Sex and gender differences in drug safety reporting and surveillance.
- Intersectionality in Pharmacology: Interplay of sex/gender with race, age, and socioeconomic status in drug response.
- Special Populations: Pharmacological considerations in pregnancy, menopause, and transgender health.
Please select the option “Call for Papers: Sex and Gender in Pharmacological Research” when submitting your manuscript and mention this Call for Papers in your cover letter.
