The gambling landscape is undergoing rapid transformation driven by technological innovation. The European Addiction Research journal aims to bring together contributions that critically examine the multifaceted impacts of new technologies in gambling, spanning behavioral, cognitive, experiential, and regulatory dimensions. We welcome Research Articles, Brief Reports and Review Articles that explore - but are not limited to - the following themes:
- Digital technologies and gambler behavior: How mobile platforms, apps, and online environments shape decision-making, risk perception, and engagement.
- AI, Big Data, and social media in product design and marketing: The role of predictive analytics, personalization, and algorithmic targeting in gambling experiences.
- Social media and gambling: The increasing integration of gambling content into social platforms and its implications for exposure, normalization, and peer influence.
- Convergence of gambling and gaming: The blurring boundaries between gambling and gaming, including loot boxes, skins betting, and the use of digital currencies.
- Trends in sports betting, fantasy sports, e-sports, and virtual gaming: Emerging formats and their appeal to new demographics.
- Experiential, cognitive, and behavioral impacts: How these technologies affect user experience, cognitive load, addiction pathways, and psychological outcomes.
- Policy and regulatory implications: Challenges for governance, consumer protection, and public health in the face of evolving digital gambling ecosystems.
