Journal: Kidney and Blood Pressure Research

Submission Deadline: June 30, 2026

Reproducibility has become a central concern in modern scientific research. Many studies fail to yield the same results when repeated, which undermines trust in scientific literature. This problem stems from various factors, such as selective reporting, inadequate methodological transparency, and small sample sizes. Without robust replication, the reliability of scientific knowledge is called into question.

Confirmatory studies, which are research projects designed to test existing findings using rigorous analytical methods, play a critical role in addressing this issue. These studies validate previous work, filter out false positives, and strengthen the evidence base in any field. In light of this, Kidney and Blood Pressure Research is launching a call for papers to promote the submission of high-quality and well-designed studies that confirm novel observations in nephrology. This initiative aims to support transparent, high-quality replication work and foster a culture of scientific integrity and reliability.

We welcome researchers to submit confirmatory clinical or experimental studies. Confirmatory studies should be submitted as original research articles and should:

  • Clearly indicate in the Introduction the original hypotheses investigated and why confirmation is justified
  • Include in the Methods section a detailed description of the methodological protocol, design and statistical analysis used in the study
  • Use an appropriate sample size to confirm or refute the original hypothesis and demonstrate a sound statistical basis
  • Clearly address in the Discussion section how the confirmatory study contributes to the scientific debate

Epidemiological and in silico studies may also be submitted; however, we recommend contacting the editorial board in advance to determine whether your study falls within the scope of this call.

Please select the option “Call for Papers: Embracing Confirmatory Studies in Nephrology” when submitting your manuscript and mention this Call for Papers in your cover letter.

Article publication is subject to rigorous peer review in line with the journal's editorial policies. Please refer to our author guidelines for further details about the publication conditions.
