Journal: Neuroendocrinology

Submission Deadline: June 30, 2026

This special topic issue welcomes original research, reviews, and perspectives that explore the intricate relationship between thyroid dysfunction and brain health. Thyroid hormones are essential for normal brain development and function, and growing evidence suggests that disorders such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and autoimmune thyroiditis are linked to cognitive impairment, mood disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases.

We particularly encourage submissions focusing on the role of inflammation and immune mechanisms as key mediators in this connection. Special attention will be given to studies that investigate common triggers, including psychological stress, gut microbiota imbalance, and systemic inflammation, that contribute to both thyroid and brain dysfunction.

This issue aims to deepen our understanding of the shared molecular and physiological pathways underlying thyroid-related neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative conditions, with the goal of identifying novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Please select the option “Call for Papers: Thyroid Dysfunction and Brain Health” when submitting your manuscript and mention this Call for Papers in your cover letter.
