Journal: Neuroimmunomodulation

Submission Deadline: June 30, 2026

Emerging evidence suggests that the nervous system plays a crucial role in nearly all aspects of cancer biology: initiation, growth, progression, metastasis, and resistance to therapy. The immune system is key in mediating nerve-cancer crosstalk, as neuromodulators and neuropeptides released from tumor-innervating nerves can influence the trafficking, polarization state, and effector functions of diverse immune populations. Reciprocally, cytokines and metabolites released from tumor-associated immune cells can activate local nerves to influence host physiology and behavior. Cancer treatments, including chemo- and immunotherapy, can further modulate these interactions.

This collection/call for papers seeks to bring together expertise in cancer and neuroimmunology to define these complex interactions and provide a roadmap for the field going forward. We welcome Research Articles, Review Articles, Methods Articles, and Brief Reports.

Please select the option “Call for Papers: Cancer and Immune Interactions: Implications for Neurophysiology and Behavior” when submitting your manuscript and mention this Call for Papers in your cover letter.

Article publication is subject to rigorous peer review in line with the journal's editorial policies. Please refer to our author guidelines for further details about the publication conditions.

Karger has established agreements with consortia and institutions that include full or partial coverage of Article Processing Charges (APC). Corresponding authors can publish Open Access articles at no or reduced cost if they are associated with or employed by one of these universities/institutions.
