Journal: Neuroimmunomodulation
Submission Deadline: June 30, 2026
The journal Neuroimmunomodulation calls for contributions for the article collection entitled Interactions of the lung-brain-immune axis in health and respiratory disease. In recent years, the interactions between the brain and the lung, via immune signaling, have garnered increased attention. In part, this attention has emerged from an increased recognition and understanding that environmental exposures, like air pollution, airborne pathogens, or aeroallergens, meaningfully contribute to mental and neurological illness. Thus, questions pertaining to the role of pulmonary inflammation in the development and progression of psychiatric and neurological diseases, and the biological mechanisms that underlie these relationships, are timely and relevant.
This article collection seeks to feature research addressing these questions and will emphasize work focused on the coordinated interactions between the brain, the lung, and peripheral and central immune processes in health and in the context of respiratory disease. Research assessing these relationships across the lifespan is of particular interest. We welcome pertinent original research, brief reports, letters, and review articles.
Please select the option “Call for Papers: Interactions of the Lung-Brain-Immune Axis in Health and Respiratory Disease” when submitting your manuscript and mention this Call for Papers in your cover letter.
