Nephron calls for submissions to the "World Kidney Health" section of the journal for an article collection entitled “One Year On: Implementing the World Health Assembly Resolution on Kidney Health”. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and case studies that offer novel insights into promoting kidney health, preventing kidney disease, and improving care across the life course.
The 2025 World Health Assembly resolution on kidney health represents a major global policy milestone, recognizing kidney disease as a public health priority and calling for strengthened prevention, early detection, equitable access to care, and integration of kidney health across health systems.
This article collection calls for submissions that support implementation of this agenda globally. We particularly welcome studies with clear implications for implementation, policy, equity, and scalable improvements in kidney health and care delivery.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Local, national, and global facilitators, barriers, to implement strategies related to the World Health Assembly kidney health resolution
- Innovative models of kidney health services delivery, integrated care, and health system redesign
- Strategies to embed kidney disease prevention, early detection, and management within primary care, health systems and community settings
- Policy development, implementation science, and health system transformation related to kidney disease prevention and care
- Pilot, feasibility, pragmatic, and implementation studies evaluating interventions for people with kidney disease, kidney failure, or those receiving kidney replacement therapy
- Qualitative and mixed-methods studies exploring the experiences and priorities of patients, carers, communities, and health professionals involved in kidney care
- Value-based healthcare, health economics, and cost-effectiveness analyses relevant to kidney services, access, and outcomes
- Scoping, systematic, or evidence synthesis reviews relevant to kidney health, kidney disease prevention, implementation, and care delivery
- Equity-focused approaches to improving access to kidney disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and kidney replacement therapy
- Digital health, artificial intelligence, telehealth, and data-enabled approaches to kidney disease prevention and care
- Workforce development, education, task-sharing, and capacity-building initiatives in kidney care
- Research addressing kidney health challenges and innovations in low-resource, rural, remote, or underserved settings
- Health services research and evaluation related to strategies or programs to improve kidney health and mitigate risks of kidney diseases
- Health care approaches for migrants and marginalized people with focus on kidney health
