Formerly the 10th Chancellor of UC Berkeley, he is known for promoting accessible education and global, interdisciplinary collaboration.Since 2020, he has served as President and CEO of the New York Academy of Sciences, guiding it through the pandemic, expanding programs in neuroscience, AI, and climate change, and strengthening its mission and governance.

    LinkedIn Profile Prof. Ferry C. Breedveld is a rheumatologist and clinical scientist known for his work on chronic inflammation and biologic therapies for arthritis. As president of EULAR, he helped make it a key hub for scientific exchange. Later, as CEO of Leiden University Medical Center, he focused on quality improvement, medical education, and health IT. He now serves on several boards and, as vice president of FEAM, supports initiatives in One Health, pandemic preparedness, and AI in healthcare.
